As many of you know, remote access to security-protected University networked resources from non-UConn Internet Protocol (IP) addresses is currently accomplished using a proxy server.
The Information Services Division has been working in recent months to convert the University's proxy server's front end from an IP to a Universal Resource Locator (URL) based system. While the new proxy server front end is functional, there are some discrepancies in URL addresses that we are working with vendors to resolve. In order to minimize user frustrations and offer a workable solution, we are temporarily switching from an automatic proxy service to a manual proxy service.
All proxy server users should immediately begin to utilize the University's alternative manual proxy service. Instructions for using the manual proxy service are posted at:
We will send out a follow-up announcement once we have restored the automatic proxy server to an acceptable level of service. In the meantime, we apologize for any inconvenience to remote users of security-protected networked services.
