Applying Educational Psychology to Health Care Issues: Combating Lyme Disease

Abstract

This investigation discusses the results of a year long study, examining the effects of an instructional video on the knowledge attitudes and behaviors of high school students concerning Lyme disease. Results indicate a positive and sustained increase of students' knowledge as a result of the short intervention, but show less positive results for the long term effect on students' attitudes and behaviors. Implications for future educational interventions in disease prevention are discussed.
