SCHOLARSHIPS FOR INCOMING FRESHMEN
The University of Connecticut offers a broad range
of merit scholarship programs rewarding students who have
established outstanding academic records and have made significant
contributions to their school or community through leadership,
service, special talents, and experiences that may enhance
our campus environment.
The following scholarships are available to Connecticut
residents only and require a special
application and/or additional materials:
PLEASE NOTE: Students applying for these scholarships
cannot apply via the online application.
The Nutmeg Scholarship
The Nutmeg Scholarship honors the exceptional accomplishments of Connecticut
high school seniors. All semifinalists and finalists in the National Achievement
Scholarship Program, the National Hispanic Recognition Program, and the
National Merit Semifinalist Competition are welcome to apply. In addition,
one outstanding student from every Connecticut high school may also be
nominated to apply. Applications will be distributed by the Guidance Counselor's
Office at each local high school. Student must apply by November 1st.
Selection is highly competitive. Valued at $15,700.00 per year
The Day of Pride Scholarship
Day of Pride Scholarships are awarded to outstanding Connecticut high
school seniors from disadvantaged backgrounds who have proven academic
ability as demonstrated through high school grades, test scores, class
rank, and letters of recommendation. In addition to a commitment to diversity
and multiculturalism, demonstrated leadership, and contributions to their
community, students should have documented financial need. Applications
will be distributed by the Guidance Counselor's Office at each local high
school. Student must apply by November 1st. Awards are based upon a very
competitive selection process. Valued at $15,700.00 per year
The following scholarships are available to In-State
and Out-of-State students and do not require a special
application:
(students will be notified of their scholarship award (eligibility)
at the time of their acceptance to the University.)
The Achievement Scholarship
Students who rank in the top 10% of their graduating class and have achieved
a minimum of 1350 on the SAT will be considered for an Achievement Scholarship.
Priority consideration will be given to students who apply for admission
by December 1.
Valued at $3,000 - $9,300 per year.
The Leadership Scholarship
Students who have demonstrated a commitment to multicultural
diversity programs and initiatives through leadership, special
talents, and achievements in school and/or community will be
considered for a Leadership Scholarship. Students should have a minimum score of 1100 on the SAT and rank in the top 15% of their class. Priority consideration
will be given to students who apply for admission by December 1.
Valued at $6,000 - $9,300 per year
Presidential Scholars Award: for Valedictorians and
Salutatorians
One-half Tuition Scholarship (renewable for 4 years) - Students
who rank number one or two in their graduating class will automatically
qualify for the Presidential Scholars Scholarship. Valued - $3,000
- $9,300 per year
Plus a one-time $2,500 Undergraduate Research Fellowship - An additional
one-time Fellowship is made available to allow the Presidential Scholar
to engage in a research experience with faculty in an area of his/her
interest.
