Two month old gametophytes of P. alcicorne. This image
was taken
with a dissecting microscope; the plants are a fraction of
a millimeter across and barely visible to the naked eye.
Mature P. ridleyi gametophyte with a tiny sporophyte (lighter
green leaf)
emerging to the right. This culture is about six months old,
and the leaf is 5 mm long.

Various platyceriums that I started from spore, now 2-3 years old
and growing in the UConn EEB greenhouses (currently in the care of
Sandra Ek). The species are (from left to right): P. stemaria,
P. wandae, P. coronarium, P. madagascariense and
P. andinum.
