Twayne's Oral History Series seeks to identify coll ections of vital, vibrant interviews that lie scattered in archives throughout every state and to publish selections of the best materials. The series lets people speak for themselves, from their own unique perspectives on events, places, and other people. But to be more than a babble of voices, each volume organizes its interviews around particular situations and occurrences and ties them together with interpretive essays that put individuals into a larger historical context. The style and format of each book varies to match the material from which t hey are drawn, demonstrating the diversity of oral history and its methodology.
