3. Spreading the News About Lyme Disease
One of the best ways to spread the news about Lyme
disease prevention is to have the students help. When all four
informational sections have been completed, students can work
in groups on how to spread their knowledge of Lyme disease to
other classes or the whole school.
Have students break into groups. Each group can take
one information section (i.e., transmission, symptoms and treatment,
prevention, and tick removal) to present. The presentation should
contain all pertinent information about Lyme disease, and be conveyed
in a manner that emphasizes the importance of preventative behaviors.
Students can decide as a group how they would like to present
their information. Some ideas are listed below:
1) use overheads or posters
2) act out a short play or skit
3) make a short informational video
4) create an informational pamphlet
These are just a few suggestions. Students can brainstorm
in their respective groups how they wish to go about the project.
****You may wish to share the Lyme disease video
Curse of the Blood Suckers with other classes
or the whole school in a short assembly. Your class could create
handouts or pamphlets for the students to take as they leave.
