In the year 2000, the Purchasing Department negotiated a contract between UConn, Microsoft, and Dell that provides UConn staff and faculty the ability to purchase Microsoft software at a reduced price. The software available in this contract is all software relating to Server Operating Systems, Desktop Operating Systems, and Applications. The agreement clearly states the software is to be installed on University- owned personal computers; therefore, home use and students are not covered under this contract.
As of October 2001, Microsoft modified the Select Agreement with the following purchase options.
University Information Technology Services (University ITS) manages the Microsoft Select Agreement for the University, taking in orders, collecting payment, filling orders, and tracking the distribution.
UConn Microsoft Select Agreement information is available by visiting http://www.sp.uconn.edu/~software/cgi-bin/db/agreement.pl. There is an online order form. Fill out the form completely with your software needs and it returns the price automatically. Upon submitting the form, your order will be filled. When the media is ready for pick-up, you will be notified and payment is expected at this time (Transfer Voucher).
